About Us

Fighting to Save Our Democracy

OFA started as Obama for America, the campaign arm of the Obama presidential campaign, in 2007. After the election, OFA morphed into Organizing for America as an issue-advocacy organization, then went back to Obama for America for the 2012 presidential re-election campaign. After the election, OFA became the issue-advocacy group Organizing for Action, a nationwide organization with local chapters across the country.

In the spring of 2019, OFA became All On The Line, affiliated with former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder's National Democratic Redistricting Committee, to work on gerrymandering. At that time, those of us in the OFA Westside LA chapter decided to stay with the name Organizing for Action.  Why?  Because we think it best reflects what we are and what we do.  It is our identity.  While gerrymandering is clearly a problem in our democracry, we feel it is too narrow a mission for what we work to accomplish -- specifically, to help elect Democratic candidates nationally and locally, especially in key districts deemed critical to our party's success.  We still identify with OFA's original organizing principles:  Respect - Empower - Include - Organize.

This year is another critical moment for our democracy. We again are focused on electing Democrats in key districts, locally and nationally.

We would love for you to join us and give whatever time you can to this effort. It is your chance to be a direct participant in our democracy, and to help ensure we elect candidates who will protect it.
