Hello, Everyone -
If you celebrate the Lunar New Year, Happy New Year to you! May we have peace and prosperity and a happy outcome to this year.
Our February Chapter Meeting is this Thursday, February 15th, from 7:30 - 8:30 PM PT. We will be discussing the upcoming primary in California, as well as other items of interest.
Here are a few important notes on voting in the CA Mar 5th primary:
Feb 20: Last day to register to vote.
Drop Boxes: We always advise people to vote early in drop boxes rather than by mail.
Vote Centers: Open Feb 24 - Mar 4: 10 AM - 7 PM and Election Day, Mar 5: 7 AM - 8 PM
California makes it easy to vote (yay to live in a blue state), but we always have questions about obscure races. We will discuss in more detail at chapter, but here is a note about the Democratic State Central Committee delegates races. As a group we don’t make recommendations on Central Committee elections, as these elections are super-hyper-local. Best bet is to talk to people who live in the district and find out what they think. We can tell you that we do know the following candidates and would recommend them:
51st: Amy Wiwuga (former OFA organizer)
55th: Lindsay Carlson, Jimmie Woods Gray, Pamela Sparrow
Finally, on a topic that may be interesting to everyone, Heather Cox Richardson, the esteemed historian, in her "Letters from an American" newsletter (well-worth a subscribe by the way) commented on Special Counsel Robert Hur's 300+ page report closing the investigation of POTUS's handling of classified documents. Click here to read her commentary. We will discuss this topic at chapter a bit, and, more fully, in our Messaging Summit on Thursday, February 29th.
Remember, per Anand Giridharadas,
Let's buck up
Let's not sound dour
Let's be hopeful
Let's win the future
