Chapter Members - September 15, 2022
During our September Chapter Meeting, we checked in with each other about the things that matter to us and why exactly we are working so hard to elect Democratic candidates up and down the ticket in states all across the country. Here are some of the things we said:
These races are razor-thin. It's shocking that people would vote for the GOP candidates that are running right now. Every vote counts.
I want to protect the rights we have. I want to protect the right to vote.
There is so much bigotry, hate, and racism.
Rights are being taken away, including women's rights.
Texas has established bounties to arrest women who get medical care. This is appalling.
We are in a battle for our country. We can't let the authoritarians take over.
There is so much corruption in the GOP.
The GOP is trying to suppress the vote. The GOP wants to switch the election results.
I don't like the GOP candidates and what they stand for. We can't let them take away everything we have.
Two issues are really important to me: (1) Global climate change; and (2) The growing racism in the Republican party.
I've lived more than 72 years under a democracy. I'm trying to imagine what will happen if these people win. You saw how Sheila Kuehl, an elected member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, was held by a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy because she was conducting a legitimate investigation into the activities of the Sheriff.
I want my rights. I want to speak freely. I want reproductive care. I want my vote.
I want to stop Trump and the Trumpites.
I love what our country could be if our democracy was strong and vibrant.
